Charitable Work

holy_land_web.jpg

The President's Charity for 2009 aims to raise £2009 to support the Parish of Beit Jala, which is near Bethlehem in the Holy Land. Headline grabbing projects are funded from elsewhere. However, there are a number of smaller projects which, if successful, will improve the ability of the Parish of Beit Jala to operate more effectively to support the local Christian and Roman Catholic community in the difficult circumstances which exist in that part of the Middle East. The requirement is for the sort of electrical equipment which we tend to take for granted in this country, such as a projector and screen, computer, printer and scanner and a PA system. The target sum will enable the Parish to purchase locally the equipment which is best suited to their needs and which can be serviced locally.

The President's charity for 2008/09 was the "Water For Life" project as promoted by The Catenian Association. We aimed to raise £2008 in 2008/09 from Kenilworth Circle but the Brothers of Kenilworth Circle surpassed themselves by raising the princely sum of £4500.

In addition to the President's Charity, we raised £810 for the Catenian Bursary Fund and made a much appreciated donation of goods to the Salvation Army in Leamington Spa at Christmas.
